Guidance Counselor and School Social Worker Hiring Resources
Applicants for social worker, guidance counselor, and other pupil personnel service positions are available in the New Teacher Finder. These applicants have been vetted for NYS Certification and have confirmed interest in working during the upcoming school year. For support, you may work through your HR Director and/or through the Division of Human Capital's School Support Services Office (HCSS), who can provide you with lists of candidates and/or resumes of eligible applicants.
HCSS has also assigned a school social worker liaison for each borough, who will work with you to successfully navigate the SSW hiring process:
Genevieve Lamonaca (Brooklyn): (718) 935-4199 - GLamona@schools.nyc.gov
Luis A. Echevarria (Brooklyn): (718) 935-4549 - Lechevarria@schools.nyc.gov
David Dilillo (Bronx): (718) 935-4210 - DDilillo@schools.nyc.gov
Maria Tejada (Manhattan): (718) 935-4848 - MaTejada@schools.nyc.gov
Dana McGraw (Queens): (718) 935-3623 - DMcGraw2@schools.nyc.gov
Kostadin Pechalov (Staten Island & District 75): (718) 935-4623 - KPechalov@schools.nyc.gov
Over the next few weeks, there will be borough-wide virtual career fairs for social worker positions. You will be notified of these events through your HR Director and your central office liaison. These schedules will be varied to give you maximum flexibility.
For questions regarding the SSW Hiring process, or about any pupil personnel position, email HCSS at SSWHiring@schools.nyc.gov.
SH-900 Annual Report
New York State law requires all schools to complete the SH 900 Annual Report in order to collect information about job-related injuries and illnesses. You must complete all three parts of the report for the 2019 calendar year, and post the completed SH 900.1 form on your health and safety bulletin board, by February 1. You must submit the report, according to the instructions in this fact sheet, by March 2. You and your payroll secretary can access the SH 900 forms and related materials on the SH 900 Annual Report InfoHub page.
Online training for secretaries on how to complete the report will be available beginning in January; notifications for the training will be sent to secretaries via email. Please share this information with your payroll secretary and ensure that the 2019 SH 900 Annual Report is submitted by March 2. Once the report is submitted, a confirmation email will be sent to the submitter.
For questions, email SH900Forms@schools.nyc.gov.
