Guidance Counselor and School Social Worker Hiring Resources
Applicants for social worker, guidance counselor, and other pupil personnel service positions are listed in the New Teacher Finder. These applicants have been vetted for NYS certification and have confirmed their interest in working during the upcoming school year. For support, you may collaborate with your HR Director and/or the Division of Human Resources' Office of HR School Support (HRSS), which can provide lists of candidates and resumes of eligible applicants.
- You can find more information on the application and hiring process for social workers in the New York City Public Schools Social Worker Application and Hiring Process document.
- Licensed New York State social workers must also hold school social worker certification to be eligible for a position with NYCPS.
- You can find more information on these requirements and on the application process with the New York State Education Department in the How to Apply for NYSED School Social Worker Certification document.
SH-900 Annual Report
New York State law requires all schools to complete the SH 900 Annual Report in order to collect information about job-related injuries and illnesses. You must complete all three parts of the report for the 2019 calendar year, and post the completed SH 900.1 form on your health and safety bulletin board, by February 1. You must submit the report, according to the instructions in this fact sheet, by March 2. You and your payroll secretary can access the SH 900 forms and related materials on the SH 900 Annual Report InfoHub page.
Online training for secretaries on how to complete the report will be available beginning in January; notifications for the training will be sent to secretaries via email. Please share this information with your payroll secretary and ensure that the 2019 SH 900 Annual Report is submitted by March 2. Once the report is submitted, a confirmation email will be sent to the submitter.
For questions, email SH900Forms@schools.nyc.gov.
