NYCPS hires an average of 4,000-5,000 new teachers annually. On August 27th, we held an in-person celebration for approximately 2,100 teachers. We kicked off New Teacher Week with an exciting celebration to welcome around 2,100 new teachers to the New York City Public School system. Volunteers from the NYC Public School staff gave our new educators a warm welcome and treated them to a fantastic performance by our gifted students. They also received words of wisdom and a warm welcome from NYC Mayor Eric Adams, an inspirational speech from NYC Public Schools Chancellor of Education David Banks, and an uplifting message from UFT President Michael Mulgrew, as well as passionate messages from other dedicated educational leaders from NYCPS Offices and Divisions. Join us in celebrating the promise and potential of our new teachers as they embark on this impactful journey.
