NYC School Survey

Survey Overview

Every year, we ask families, teachers and staff of students in grades 3-K through 12, and students in grades 6-12 to take the NYC School Survey. The survey is designed to collect important information about each school's ability to support student success. School leaders can use feedback from the survey to reflect and improve schools and programs. You can learn more about the NYC School Survey by contacting your school or program.

2026 NYC School Survey Results

The 2026 NYC School Survey results are now available on the Panorama Education platform. View the 2026 NYC School Survey results.

Schools can share the Find Your School’s NYC School Survey Results One Pager, available in all 13 DOE-supported languages, with families for step-by-step guidance on accessing and exploring their school’s results.

Student Survey Revisions and New Baseline

In summer 2025, the Survey Initiatives Team substantially revised the Student Survey in partnership with students, educators, researchers, and content experts. Updates include simplified language, more direct question formats, and stronger alignment to educator action, while preserving all core concepts, equity measures, and school quality frameworks.

Because the instrument changed significantly, this year’s results represent a new baseline and should not be compared to prior years. For details, see the Student Survey Revisions Guide. Revisions to remaining instruments are planned for future years.

NYC School Survey Recognition Program

You may see a green ribbon on your school's survey report in Panorama and school's 2025-26 School Quality Reports: Snapshot. This means your school earned the NYC School Survey Response Rate Award for exceptional family, student, and teacher participation. To view the full list of schools that received this award, click here.
