Principals Digest is the DOE's internal newsletter for principals. The publication serves to support principals in running their schools through a streamlined and action-oriented publication that encompasses system-wide updates, policy changes, required administrative tasks and deadlines, and both optional and required events.
This page includes links to the current publication, an archive of previous editions, as well as workflow management tools and resources for principals. What is Principals Digest?
- The DOE’s primary communication channel to advance the Chancellor’s initiatives;
- A weekly (biweekly during the summer) newsletter distributed to principals, assistant principals, and other school-based subscribers (superintendents and NYC DOE Borough/Citywide Office staff also receive PDigest for awareness); and
- Designed to streamline communications from Central to schools, as well as provide information that is clear, comprehensive, actionable, and reliable so that principals can focus on the instructional work of their schools and student achievement.
What is Principals Hub?
The Principals Hub is a collection of tools and resources for principals. It is designed to make it easier for principals to access, use, and delegate tasks published in Principals Digest. The following tools are available on Principals Hub:
- Principals Calendar: Informs principals of upcoming deadlines and events published in Principals Digest. Note that only tasks with principal deadlines are added to the calendar.
- Lookup Tool: Allows users to filter digest items by keywords, workflow subcategory, school type, and publication date. The tool also displays a list of upcoming deadlines for items published in Principals Digest.
- Principals Digest Library: View all digest items in a given edition on one page. Includes an archive of Principals Digest editions for the current and past school years.
